Dovetail Mental Health provides trauma-informed, nervous-system–aware therapy for adults, couples, and adolescents. Through a compassionate and client-centered approach, our therapists provide a safe and supportive space to explore their emotions, heal from traumas, strengthen their connections with others, and enhance their self-worth. Each therapist works with their clients to work intentionally towards their goals while protecting privacy and respecting each client’s pace.
Empowering you to heal from trauma and make tough decisions with confidence, our therapists provide an empathetic ear and encourage you to reflect deeply on your beliefs, thoughts, and actions. We will work with you to identify more helpful behaviors leading to a more confident, assertive version of yourself, fully in line with your greatest strengths and values.

Areas We Support
Clients appreciate that we do not take a cookie-cutter approach with their treatment. One week a client may want to process through talk therapy, while another week they may be ready for deeper trauma work, exploring and practicing coping skills, or learning better interpersonal and boundary techniques. We believe that you are in the driver’s seat and we serve as your guide.

We commonly work with:
-
Adults navigating trauma, attachment wounds, and relationship patterns
-
Individuals managing anxiety, burnout, self-esteem concerns, or life transitions
-
Couples struggling with communication, trust, or recurring conflict
-
Young adults and adolescents (16+) experiencing emotional, behavioral, or relational challenges
Our therapists draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including trauma-informed and nervous-system–aware modalities, depending on client needs and therapist fit.

Path 1

Path 3
Care with a Dovetail Master’s Level student intern. In-person or virtual therapy for adults, and adolescents depending on intern. Closely supervised by Jocelyn Cadiz, LPC, and each intern’s university. Reduced-fee services while completing advanced clinical training.
Fees and insurance options vary by therapist and will be discussed during consultation to ensure clarity and fit.
Please be aware that if you use your insurance for therapy, that can put limits on the frequency & number of sessions we may have, and that your insurance can access and read your private medical records. Insurance companies require therapists to assign a mental health diagnosis starting with the first session. That diagnosis is then submitted to your insurance company and becomes part of your long-term medical record, which can be accessed by insurers and other healthcare providers in the future. Private pay offers more privacy, flexibility, and autonomy in your care. Some clients may opt to choose the private pay route so that they have more control over their treatment, allowing therapy to remain truly private, as no diagnosis or session notes are shared with insurance companies. If your insurance deductible is high, your fee through insurance could end up being close to or higher than my private pay fee. We can run your plan to see your estimated fee if you'd like to use your insurance, just let me know.

We’ve been impressed with Dovetail Mental Health, PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name Dovetail has a special history for me — years ago I worked at a public relations firm with that name, and I loved how it symbolized the strong connection between the agency and its clients. Now, I see it as the same kind of relationship between therapist and client: a strong foundational connection through trust and rapport building is an absolute must before therapy can be effective.
I help individuals and couples heal from trauma, betrayal, and abuse; navigate complex relationships; build stronger self-esteem, emotional awareness, and boundaries. My approach is conversational and collaborative — clients often tell me they feel comfortable right away and open up to me in ways they haven’t been able to before. My modalities include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and couples therapy using the Gottman Method. I am EMDR Certified, Gottman Level 2 Trained, CPT Trained, a Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician, and a Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider.
I’m also proud that Dovetail is helping to train the next generation of counselors. We now 3 have graduate student interns who provide therapy at reduced rates, which expands access while giving them real-world experience in a supportive environment. Each one brings something valuable to clients that I cannot provide, and I am also learning so much from them. Johnathan works with older teens and adults and especially loves to support college students. Kirsten is TBRI and EMDR trained, and works with kids through adults. Jasmine is also EMDR trained and can support Spanish speaking clients; she works with teens and adults.

Empowering you to be the best you, living fully into your purpose with confidence and zest for life!

What is Dovetail?
"Dovetail" originally refers to a type of joint in woodworking where two pieces of material fit together seamlessly, with interlocking angles that create a strong, stable connection. When applied metaphorically, particularly in the context of therapy, "dovetail" can symbolize the harmonious and effective integration of different elements—whether it's the therapeutic techniques used, the relationship between therapist and client, or the alignment of a person’s inner thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
In therapy, a "dovetailing" process might describe how various aspects of a person's experience or therapeutic approaches come together in a supportive, cohesive way. Just as dovetail joints create a strong, lasting bond in woodwork, this metaphor suggests that the therapeutic relationship and process can create a powerful and resilient connection between the individual and their path to healing. It highlights the importance of building trust, understanding, and alignment in therapy, where the individual feels supported and understood, and the various facets of their experience are interwoven to foster growth and resilience.
In essence, a therapeutic process that "dovetails" is one where everything clicks into place, leading to deeper insight and more sustainable change.
